Kevin Riley’s 40-year career in journalism as a reporter, editor and media executive was marked by a rapidly evolving media landscape, dramatic technological change, and fundamentally new expectations of what and how consumers sought news and information.

As Editor-in-Chief, his leadership of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution demonstrated an adaptability and forward-thinking approach to reshaping a major news organization to meet the seminal and evolving needs and interests of its readership, its staff, and its management.

Riley’s skills in crafting compelling narratives, managing complex stakeholder relationships, and utilizing the breadth of digital and traditional communications technologies enable him to identify and create newsworthy stories and craft messages that resonate with diverse audiences.

His understanding of media dynamics, expertise in crisis communications, and keen sense of “what’s news” equip him with the perspective and expertise to counsel senior business and non-profit executives, and public figures across the range of strategic and demanding communications and leadership challenges.

He has served on a number of non-profit boards, including the Empty Stocking Fund and Leadership DeKalb, and he will chair the Dayton Literary Peace Prize Board of Trustees in 2025 and 2026. He has also been a frequent guest lecturer, including at Georgia Tech, the University of Georgia, Morehouse College and the University of Dayton.

He and his wife of 38 years, Tracy, have three adult children
